Insurance Awareness Campaign

     

In order to increase awareness of General Insurance Products across India, the General Insurance Industry had launched a nationwide awareness campaign through Radio, TV and Print media with the tagline “Kar lo Insurance, kar lo Rewind” and concept of “ Kal... aaj aur Kal…”.

The first burst of the PAN India Insurance Awareness Campaign has been completed in April-May 2013. The campaign was TV- led with emphasis of spends on Regional TV channels. Thereafter, the post-track survey to measure effectiveness of the first burst of Campaign, in terms of content recall, message comprehension and likeability was commissioned in June 2013. The two months campaign across TV channels had a satisfactory impact specially among rural areas. So far campaign has achieved its objective of making people think about insurance, having a positive impact on the minds of the target segment. Second phase planned for August- September.

Health Insurance 

Health insurance is a type of insurance coverage that covers the cost of an insured individual's medical and surgical expenses, arising out of hospitalisation depending on the type of health insurance coverage. For more information Click Here

Motor Insurance

Motor Insurance gives protection to the vehicle owner against:

  • Damages to his/her vehicle and 
  • Pays for any Third Party Liability determined as per law against the owner of the vehicle.

Third party insurance is statutory requirement. The owner of the vehicle is legally liable for any injury or damage to third party life or property caused by or arising out of the use of the vehicle in a public place. Driving a motor vehicle without insurance in a public place is a punishable offence in terms of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

There are package or umbrella covers available which give, under a single document, a combination of covers. For instance there are covers such as Householders Policy, Shopkeepers Policy, Office Package policy etc that, under one policy, seek to cover various physical assets including buildings, contents etc. Such policies, apart from seeking to cover property may also include certain personal

lines or liability covers. Out of these Householders Policy covers Home Insurance.

Rural Insurance in India

Rural Insurance provides insurance solutions to meet the needs of agricultural and rurally based businesses. The regulation framed by the IRDA on the obligations of the insurers towards rural and social sector stipulates targets to be fulfilled by insurers on an annual basis. In terms of these regulations, insurers are required to cover year wise prescribed targets-

  • In terms of percentage of policies to be underwritten and percentage of total gross premium income written direct by the General Insurers under rural obligations.
  • In terms of number of lives under social obligations,

The General Insurers underwrote a gross direct premium of Rs. 7,470 crore in the rural sector, viz., 14.13 % of the gross direct premium underwritten (Rs. 52,876 crore) by them in 2011-12. Public insurers underwrote 11.49% of their gross direct premium and private insurers underwrote 17.73% in the rural sector.
