Recipient of the World Health Day Award of Excellence presented by the President of India.

Ms. Bhaskar started her career with the General Insurance Corporation (GIC Re) the largest Reinsurance company in India (and within 19th largest globally) having a Gross premium Income of INR 45 to 50,000 crores and having business relationship with more than 130 countries globally.

She started her career as a direct recruit officer in March 1995 and retired as Director & General Manager in June 2023 after 33 years long service. During these 33 years, she has held key positions of Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Financial Advisor, Chief Information and Security Officer (CISO), Chief of Internal Audit and Chief Underwriter.

For 6 months period, she superannuated as the Operations at New India Assurance Company Ltd., the India's largest Non-Life Insurance Company as Acting Chairman & Managing Director.

She has great interest in sharing her rich experience and thus keep close association with academics through her assignments as visiting faculty with National Insurance Academy, Pune, Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai (IRDA) and other management institutes of repute.

Mr. Nair has rich experience of over 35 years with 15 years in the general Insurance Industry. Mr. Nair began his career in the general Insurance Industry in 1985 when he joined The New India Assurance Ltd.

His tenure at New India Assurance Ltd, 2004 enabled him to gain rich experience in various fields to include business development, underwriting, and Claims (Motor & Non-Motor) Lines of Business, Office Administration and Recruitment.

After retiring from HDFC Ergo in September 2019, Mr Nair joined the GI Council as Consultant & Technical Advisor in January 2019.

S Skandan is a Chartered Accountant with over 35+ years' experience in the Non-Life Insurance Industry. He looks after Finance, Taxation, GST matters, Industry Data and Compliance issues.

He brings extensive expertise in enterprise-wide IT transformation, Policy Administration Systems (PAS), Claims Management Systems (CMS), CRM, BPO, cloud-driven architectures, and large-scale digital platforms.

Before joining the General Insurance Council, Anupam worked with large engineering and technology teams in the InsurTech sector and served as Head of IT at Universal Sompo General Insurance Company.

Anupam holds a BTech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and an MBA in Information Systems. He is globally certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (COBIT), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and AWS Certified in Data Analytics.

In his current role as Head of Information Technology at the General Insurance Council, Anupam leads the Council’s digital strategy, technology governance, and modernization initiatives. He is also responsible for coordination with IRDAI, the Ministry, and representatives from insurance companies on all IT-related projects.

Mr. Humayun Khan has more than 33 years of experience in the banking and general insurance industry.

He started his career as a Probationary Officer in a Bank and joined United India Insurance Co. Ltd. in 1988.

During his tenure, he handled Motor Own Damage, Motor Third Party and Legal portfolios at various levels, besides serving as Chief Manager, Motor Own Damage and MIS & National level Motor tie-ups at the company’s Head Office in Chennai.

He also led the team for development of new motor insurance products.

Humayun is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and has been a regular faculty and organizer of various training programmes and workshops within the industry.

He joined the General Insurance Council in December 2022.

Ms. Pratibha Jadhav is a General Insurance professional with vast experience in marine, miscellaneous, property and mediclaim insurance including Group Mediclaim.

She was directly recruited by GIC in 1988 and later moved to United India Insurance after the branch manager cadre was introduced.

She worked in Insurance Head & Vice President in insurance broking firms and has also been associated with academics.

She holds an LLM in International Law with the highest score in 1992 and was awarded a cash prize by the University of Mumbai.

Ms. Jadhav has been a visiting faculty at the University of Mumbai for postgraduate Insurance courses for over 5 years and is a Fellow in General Insurance.

She is handling HR & Marine Insurance at the General Insurance Council and joined in November 2023.

Ms. Vasudha Rao joined the General Insurance Council in November 2023.

She has had a stint in New India Assurance Co. Ltd. for nearly 16 years.

From December 2021 till October 2023, she worked at the Office of the Insurance Ombudsman, Mumbai as a specialist (Non-Life).

She is a science graduate and also holds a Law degree from the University of Mumbai.

She is a Fellow in General Insurance.

At the General Insurance Council, she handles Hit & Run claims and the Council website & newsletter as Consultant, Motor.

Mr. Venkataraman has been associated with the General Insurance Council since January 2013 as Executive Assistant to the Secretary General.

He has more than 25 years of work experience across services sectors including manufacturing, import-export trade, advertising & PR, social development and two years in Durban, South Africa in the knitted garments industry.

At the Council, he looks after all communication and administrative requirements of the Secretary General and plays a key role in the smooth functioning of the Council Secretariat.
