Mr Nagaraja Sarma Maddipatla, (M N Sarma) has worked in almost all areas of non-life insurance and in various capacities that include, Chief Regional Manager, Deputy General Manager in-charge of ROs, GM (Investments), F.A. and Chairman Cum Managing Director.
He has significant experience of foreign operations. Has worked as Resident Manager of New India in Curacao (Dutch Caribbean) for 4-1/2 years. He headed Kenindia Assurance Co Ltd., a composite insurance company in Nairobi, Kenya as its MD & CEO for about 2-1/2 years during which time he was also the Chairman of Tanzindia Assurance Co Ltd., Dar-es-Salaam.
He was also MD & CEO of Health Insurance Third Party Administrator (HITPA), and it is in Mr Sarma’s tenure the HITPA became fully operational and started commercial operations.Mr Sarma worked as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of United India Insurance Co Ltd. before joining General Insurance Council,

DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL,
Having passed out of IIT, Bombay in 1980 with M.Sc. (Chemistry), Mr Vijayan joined the general insurance industry in the year 1981. Spanning a career of 37 years of rich experience in the non-life insurance industry, Mr Vijayan has handled various departments at Oriental Insurance Co Ltd., which include Personnel, Marine, Branch In-Charge, Division In-Charge, IT/Business Process Engineering, Regional In-Charge until he took charge as GM at United India Insurance Company for a period of three years (2015-18) where he was in charge of Health / Motor / Estate & Establishment / IAD. Mr Vijayan was Director & GM, GIC Re for a period of 2 months in 2018 prior to his retirement. Mr Vijayan joined the GI Council as Deputy Secretary General in July 2019.
Mr Shenoy joined New India Assurance in the year 1976. He has had the rare opportunity of serving in all the operational levels at New India Assurance, handling almost all Departments such as Fire, Marine Cargo & Hull, Engineering, Miscellaneous, Health, Urban & Rural Business & Motor, besides HRM and Vigilance. He also had the privilege of heading New India’s foreign operations at Curacao (Dutch Caribbean) for 5 years. After superannuating from New India Assurance in August 2015, Mr Shenoy joined the GI Council as Consultant in July 2016 and has been serving the GI Council since then handling the key portfolios of Motor Insurance and Legal matters.

CONSULTANT & TECHNICAL ADVISOR (HEALTH & OTHER LOBs
Mr Nair has rich experience of over 39 years with 33 years in the general insurance industry. Mr Nair began his career in the general insurance industry in 1985 when he joined The New India Assurance Co Ltd. His tenure at New India Assurance till 2004 enabled him to handle various portfolios which include business development, Underwriting and Claims of various Lines of Business, Office Administration and Recruitment. Mr Nair had a brief stint with K M Dastur & Co (Insurance Brokers) LLC, Dubai in 2004, before joining HDFC Chubb/Ergo General Insurance in 2005. Mr Nair also served the GI Council for three years on deputation from HDFC Ergo handling various issues and coordination with IRDAI and the Department of Financial Services. At HDFC Ergo, Mr Nair was National Head for Litigation Claims heading a team of 10 Legal Officers on Pan-India basis. After retiring from HDFC Ergo in September 2018, Mr Nair joined the GI Council as Consultant & Technical Advisor in January 2019.
CONSULTANT & TECHNICAL ADVISOR (MARINE, CARGO, HULL & SPECIALITY LINES
Mr Singh possesses all round exposure of 34 years in the general insurance industry. Mr Singh joined New India Assurance in 1984 as an Administrative Officer and rose to the rank of Deputy General Manager (handling Marine & Energy insurance) till he retired in June 2018. Until recently, Mr Singh was the only Indian representative at the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) where he represented the Indian market on the Cargo Committee of IUMI. Mr Singh has spoken at various fora on technical topics and has been involved as a technical expert in many Government projects. Mr Singh is passionate about developing professional expertise in Speciality Lines of Business to bring them on par with global standards. After retiring from New India Assurance, Mr Singh joined the GI Council in December 2018.
PRATIBHA ARVIND SARATHY
HEAD - I.T ENABLED MEMBER SERVICES
Pratibha is an engineer in Electronics & Communication from Mysore and has done her post graduation in Business Management from XLRI. She has over 22 years experience working across sectors such as Telecom, Power, Tourism, Social sector, and Education - specializing in integrating IT systems and software to traditional work methods. She has worked with multinationals such as Siemens Communications and Siemens Ltd under the Energy Unit, as also with Future Software, Motorola, and co-founded the startup Travel-Logs India Pvt Ltd. She has implemented projects with customers from across the world and has international working exposure at Germany.
Project management expertise coupled with a background in software development, experience in large scale implementation and business ensures she is able to manage the various digital initiatives being taken up by the GI Council. She joined the Council in Sept 2015 and she is responsible for all the IT related operations, and shared data initiatives. She is also responsible for coordination between IRDAI, Ministry, insurance company representatives and other stakeholders on projects undertaken to integrate the industry data.

EA to Secretary General
Mr Venkataraman is associated with the G I Council since January 2013 as Executive Assistant to the Secretary General. He has more than 25 years’ work experience across various sectors, namely, paint manufacturing, Import-Export trade, Advertising & PR, Social development sector and a two year stint in Durban, South Africa in the knitted garments industry. At the Council he looks after all the communication and administrative requirements of the Secretary General and plays a key role in the smooth functioning of the Council Secretariat.
